This October, Quail Lodge & Golf Club will once again join the global effort to raise awareness on breast cancer through its Quail in Pink initiative where fundraising proceeds will be donated to Breast Cancer Assistance Group of Monterey County (BCAG), an all-volunteer nonprofit organization of breast cancer survivors who raise funds and awareness to improve the lives of local breast cancer patients and their families.
Guests staying at Quail Lodge in October, as well as individuals purchasing green fees or retail items from the golf shop, will have the option to make a minimum donation and receive a commemorative Quail in Pink support pin and place a Quail in Pink adornment in honor of someone they love on one of the Trees of Hope on display in the lodge lobby and Golf Shop. Additionally, the Golf Shop, Edgar’s Restaurant and Waypoint Bar & Deck will offer the following items for sale of which a portion of the proceeds will be donated directly to BCAG:
- Commemorative Quail in Pink sleeve of golf balls (Golf Shop)
- Quail in Pink embroidered apparel and accessories (Golf Shop)
- Signature Pretty in Pink Vodka Cocktail (Edgar’s Restaurant and Waypoint Bar & Deck)
Saturday, October 13, join us at Waypoint Bar & Deck at Quail Lodge for our annual Quail in Pink Afternoon Tea from 2:00 to 4:00pm (reservations required) of which a portion of the proceeds will also be donated. For $28, enjoy scones and jams, a selection of finger sandwiches and sweets, and your choice from a variety of Palais des Thés teas. All pre-reserved guests will have the opportunity to enter for a chance to win raffle prizes. To make a reservation, please contact 831.620.8831 or visit quaillodge.com/waypoint.
Saturday, October 20, embark on a 115-mile journey to drive funds for BCAG by participating in our first-ever Quail in Pink Drive for a Cause. Departing in the morning from Quail Lodge, this guided motoring rally will tour the scenic roads of Monterey County with a planned stop en route to its Express Lunch location at Pinnacles National Park. Rally entry fee is $150 per vehicle for up to two people with $100 per person fee thereafter and is limited to up to 15 vehicles participating. Entry is inclusive of a route book, Express Lunch and rally gift. Guests interested in renting a vintage or modern exotic car to participate can request information about Quail Lodge’s partnership with Monterey Touring Vehicles or Enterprise Exotic Car Rentals. Registration and full payment is required by Friday, October 12 by calling 831.620.8866. All profits from the rally will directly benefit BCAG.
The rally will return to Waypoint Bar & Deck at Quail Lodge prior to 3:00pm to enjoy our October Horsepower Happy Hour celebrating Quail in Pink, for which anyone is invited to participate. Bring your own pink car to display, or decorate your car in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to receive a free appetizer. Or just come check out the other vehicles on display and enjoy Waypoint’s Happy Hour Menu until 7:00pm.
Throughout October, Quail Lodge & Golf Club will also provide special little touches of pink on the property in the global effort to raise awareness, including:
- Pink lighting at night in the Quail Lodge and Clubhouse main entrances proudly provided by Glastonbury Audio Visual Event Specialists
- Breast Cancer Awareness pink flags on the golf club practice range and pink-lined cups on the playing course
- Pink ribbon used by housekeeping staff in guestrooms
Over this past year alone BCAG awarded more than $116,000 to 77 local women undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Unlike national breast cancer charities, all contributions benefit recipients in our local Monterey County community; many of whom rely on hourly wages and tips for their daily living expenses, yet the side effects of breast cancer treatments often require patients to stop working, which may trigger severe financial hardship for their entire family.
Breast cancer strikes 1 in 8 women in the US per year, including more than 245 women and men of all ages, races, and occupations across Monterey County. For more than 20 years BCAG has been the only local organization that collaborates with local health care providers and social service agencies to provide financial grants and food assistance that help local breast cancer patients meet their daily financial needs. Throughout October, Quail Lodge hotel, golf and restaurant guests will have multiple opportunities to contribute and help make a difference.
