This October, Quail Lodge & Golf Club will donate the following:
- $1.00 for every leisure room night sold during the month.
- $1.00 for every golf guest green fee sold during the month.
- 50% of the proceeds from the Quail Lodge Golf Academy’s Sunday, October 18 Half Day Clinic: Join Katherine Marren, PGA Director of Instruction, from 1:00 to 5:15 pm for a fun group clinic that includes light tips for full swing and a short game lesson. Then play 9-holes to work on transitioning your new skills to the course, including a 3-hole playing lesson with the pro. The clinic is $150 inclusive of instruction, green fee and cart and is limited to six students. “Although our fundraising efforts are not as robust as years past given current circumstances, we at Quail believe that it is extremely important to continue to do our part to support those in the community who are facing additional tribulations from breast cancer in addition to the current impacts of COVID-19 that we are all facing,” expressed Craig Barkdull, Director of Sales and Marketing, Quail Lodge & Golf Club. “Breast Cancer can affect anyone – an employee, a Member, a guest – who may need to seek support from an organization such as BCAG for them or a loved one to survive. It gives Quail great pride to know that funds raised through our partnership with BCAG may be able to help someone we know in the community.”
2020 has been an extremely difficult year for non-profits in Monterey County. “With the onset of COVID-19, the Breast Cancer Assistance Group of Monterey County has seen a tremendous increase in applications for financial assistance from local women battling breast cancer,” says Susan Jordan, Vice President of BCAG. “Although we have lost thousands of dollars due to cancelled fundraisers, we stay determined to help every qualified applicant requesting financial assistance. Our partnership with Quail Lodge & Golf Club has never been more important.”
Unlike national breast cancer charities, 100% of all contributions to BCAG benefit breast cancer patients in the local Monterey County community. “Many of BCAG recipients work in essential services like agriculture, or have jobs that rely on hourly wages and tips to pay for daily living expenses,” says Jordan. “These jobs have been tremendously impacted by COVID-19 and have triggered severe financial hardship for women already struggling financially as they undergo treatment for breast cancer.”
Breast cancer strikes 1 in 8 women in the US per year, including more than 245 women and men of all ages, races, and occupations across Monterey County. For more than 21 years BCAG has been the only local organization that collaborates with local health care providers and social service agencies to provide financial grants and food assistance that help local breast cancer patients meet their daily financial needs.
